How The Light Gets In

What do you do when the rug is pulled out from under you and the proverbial lights go off? When the ground cracks open to swallow you whole, what do your heart and mind reach for? The title of my next show was inspired by the Leonard Cohen song “Anthem,” specifically the lyrics:

“Ring the bells that still can ring 

Forget your perfect offering 

There is a crack, a crack in everything 

That’s how the light gets in.”

For me, it’s nature and Her exquisite and colorful cast of characters. Coyote, bear, fox, raccoon…raven. They help realign my own wild heart to what is good and true in this chaotic world. They engage my soul in something worth believing in and worth fighting for…our shared existence. I offer these new works as a touchstone for you to tap back in to those living nourishing sources of light and strength inside yourselves.
