Desert Dwellers: New Marionettes

In Desert Dwellers: New Marionettes, the artist unveils a spirited new body of work inspired by a moment of quiet observation in a desert canyon. After watching two crows spar, tease, and circle one another in an old dead juniper, Gorman created the first piece for the exhibition, The Crow Brothers—a mischievous pair of hanging marionettes that seem perpetually caught between rivalry and play. Suspended in space, they set the tone for a show animated by movement, personality, and the stark poetry of the high desert.
